How did people live and build in the past? The Templar House in Amorbach gives us an insight into everyday life in past centuries.

The Templerhaus, or knights‘ hall, is the oldest preserved half-timbered building in Bavaria. This former aristocratic seat, formerly known as Rüdenhof, was first mentioned in written records at the end of the 13th century. Today the house is owned by the town of Amorbach, which was responsible for its renovation. The 700-year-old building is a fine example of high medieval profane architecture and engineering.
